How To Follow Up After A Networking Event-Getting Leads From Networking

First of all, you’re goal is to get the cards of everyone in the room and at the event. Go around and ask questions of everyone in the room. Forget about wearing the buttons or shirts. Most people that go to the networking event are out there to get business for their own businesses. NOT looking for an opportunity. So the best strategy is to ask THEM questions about their business. Or other questions. But remember, most people want to talk about themselves and what they do, not what you do. Make sure to ask them for a business card.

FOLLOW UP THE NEXT DAY OR SO–best to email them first that evening and tell them how much you enjoyed meeting them.

Nest Call them the next day. Depending on the conversation, you can either approach them directly or you can simply connect with them, set an appointment to meet them in person, share what your business is and ask them about theirs and what kind of person is the best referral for their business. For network marketing, you can tell them that you want to share what you do–usually I tell them that it may or may not be a fit for you, but you want them to know what you do as they may have referrals for you as well.

At the appointment you can share your opportunity with them–after it is over-What did you like best? What else did you like? On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being I don’t really see the vision and 10 being I’m ready to rock and roll, where are you at? If they give you a 1 or two, thank them for their time and ask for a referral. Who do you know is looking for some extra money. This is a step that many people don’t ever do. But quite often they will give you a referral which you can then connect with–if they join you can then go back and thank them, tell them that they joined and ask them again if they want to join–the new person will be under them if they do–if not no big deal. But they could make some money on the new person if they are a go-getter.
